Laser Skin Resurfacing
Treat Facial Flaws ... Look Younger & Healthier
Laser Resurfacing (Fractional Erbium)
Laser resurfacing is a skin resurfacing procedure that uses a laser to improve the appearance of your skin or treat minor facial flaws.
The procedure removes skin layer by layer with precision. The new skin cells that form during healing give the skin a tighter, younger looking surface. Laser resurfacing can be done alone or with other cosmetic surgeries.
Aging, sun exposure, heredity and lifestyle factors including nutrition, alcohol consumption and smoking all may contribute to facial wrinkling.
Pigmentary changes of the skin, such as blotchiness or brown spots, may also occur with age or as a result of birth control pills, pregnancy or genetic factors. Prior acne may have made the surface of your skin uneven. These problems, as well as certain other skin conditions, may be improved by skin resurfacing.
Skin Resurfacing Treats The Following Conditions:
- Wrinkled or sun-damaged facial skin
- Vertical wrinkles around the mouth "Bleed"
- "Crow's Feet" lines around the eyes and skin laxity (lower eyelid area)
- Line wrinkling of your upper eyelids
- Brown spots or blotchy skin coloring
- Certain precancerous skin growths
- Acne or chicken pox scars
- Superficial facial scars from a past injury
How Does Laser Skin Resurfacing Work?
Lasers work by emitting a specialized light that passes through the skin and is preferentially absorbed by water in the damaged collagen of your skin. This action allows the laser light to ablate (evaporate) very fine layers of skin, diminishing the look of the wrinkle and other unwanted textures. The older skin is remodeled into newer skin. As new cells form in the healing process, the skin becomes smoother and softer.
